This guide provides step-by-step instructions for connecting VisualCrossing Weather API to Unistream.

Prerequisites

You will need:

• A VisualCrossing account (free or paid plan)

• VisualCrossing API Key

• Location(s) you want to track weather data for

• Unistream platform credentials

Step 1: Get Your VisualCrossing API Key

Before connecting to Unistream, you need to obtain an API key from VisualCrossing.

1.1 Create a VisualCrossing Account

1. Go to VisualCrossing Weather

2. Click Sign Up

3. Complete the registration process

1.2 Get Your API Key

1. Log in to your VisualCrossing account

2. Navigate to your Account page

3. Find your API Key in the account dashboard

4. Copy and save your API Key securely

Step 2: Determine Your Locations

VisualCrossing supports multiple location formats. Choose the format that works best for your use case.

2.1 Supported Location Formats

Format 1: City Name

• Example: London, UK

• Example: New York, NY, USA

• Example: Tokyo, Japan

Format 2: Coordinates (Latitude, Longitude)

• Example: 51.5074,-0.1278 (London)

• Example: 40.7128,-74.0060 (New York)

• Example: 35.6762,139.6503 (Tokyo)

Format 3: Postal Code

• Example: 10001, USA (New York)

• Example: SW1A 1AA, UK (London)

Format 4: Address

• Example: 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA

Step 3: Connect to Unistream

3.1 Add VisualCrossing Source

1. In Unistream, navigate to Lake

2. Click Add Source

3. Select VisualCrossing

3.2 Configure General Fields

Fill in the General Fields:

• Name: Enter a descriptive name for your connection (e.g., "Weather Data - Global")

• Code: Enter a unique code identifier (e.g., "weather_vc")

3.3 Configure Connection Details

Fill in the Connection Details:

• API Key: Paste your VisualCrossing API Key from Step 1.2

3.4 Add Locations

Configure the locations you want to track:

1. Click + Add Location

2. Enter a location using one of the supported formats:

   • City name: Paris, France

   • Coordinates: 48.8566,2.3522

   • Postal code: 75001, France

   • Address: Eiffel Tower, Paris, France

3. Click Add or Save to add the location

4. Repeat to add more locations

3.5 Test and Save

1. Click Test Connection to verify the connection is working

2. If the connection is successful, you'll see a success message

3. Click Add to save your connection
